11/1/2007 - RAISE A PINT TONIGHT!
Sigma Delta Fratority Turns 35!
Through the good times and bad, through the sad times and
happy, through generations of college students that have come and gone, the one constant at Lewis University has been the
brothers and sisters of
Sigma Delta Fratority. To think that 35 years ago on a
cold November day, our group would be started by a bunch of misfits who would lead us to the biggest co-ed social
organization in Lewis University history.
The Men and Women of this group salute the founders, and thank them for starting something
great and unique.
Raise a glass tonight, for Sigma Delta Fratority. Here is to many more!

Going to Russia... Russia???
The recently engaged Emily Kadar will be traveling abroad to further
her studies of Russian history! She was recently named the "Fullbright Hays Scholar".
This scholarship is awarded through US Department of education and awards Emily $5000 to help compensate her studies
overseas.
From the recent Lewis Article:
"Kadar will leave for Moscow on Tuesday, June 26 and will study politics, economics, culture and language at the
Higher School of Economics. While there, she will stay with a host family and also take part in local excursions of the country.
“I’m excited and nervous all at once,” she said of the upcoming travel-study trip. “I want
to immerse myself in the culture so that I can understand as much as possible what it’s like to be a Russian citizen.
I think having an understanding of the people and the culture is necessary to the study of the country’s history.”

From Emily:
"Jeremy proposed at
a major bar in Chicago on stage in front of hundreds of people while a live band played "fools rush in" for us. and I have
the most beautiful ring I've ever seen in my life...Guess
I just wanted to tell everyone how happy I am, and that its all Jeremy's fault."
From Jeremy:
"Thats right, folks! The swinginest bachelor in the world
has finally been taken off the market forever!..."
You have to love his modesty.

5/4/2007 - ALMOND JOY & MOUNDS HAVE A BABY RUTH!!! (that was terrible)
Connor Sampson is born to
Clare "Mounds" Sampson BK
& Jared "Almond Joy" Sampson BK
A message from member Jared Sampson
about the new addition to our big family!
Connor Daniel Sampson Born: 5/3/07 Time: 6:46pm 8lbs 3oz 20.5 in long
"Mom
and baby are in perfect health and his dad is recovering from being a nervous wreck!
She was in labor for 11 hours and pushed for
an hour and 45 minutes!!!
She is such a strong person and I love her very very much. Connor is great! He's sleeping well,
he's starting to nurse well and he even lets me change his diaper without much fussing. I'm so excited. Those of you that
are parents...I get it now...those of you that aren't...I pray that one day you are as blessed as me. There are no words to
describe it. It's rather amazing that men and women will climb mountains, ride rockets into space and search the deepest oceans
for the meaning of life when it's right there in a hospital room. Once you have one...you'll understand."
On behalf of the members of Sigma Delta
we raise our glasses tonight in honor
of this new bundle of joy!
Congratulations Clare and Jared!

"Ann Cherry" moves on to new position.
Anny Cherry (One of the founders of the Lewis
Alumni Association) will be stepping down from her position as operator of Lewis Alumni Relations and moving onward to the
University of Chicago.
Ann has been assiting Sigma Delta for over 6 years behind the scenes providing us with the very best information relating
to our membership and contact information. We could not have run our 30th Anniversary back in 2002 without her help.
We are sad to see you go, but we hope for nothing but the best in your future career.
From the membership of Sigma Delta Fratority...
Thank you and Good luck!

3/24/2007 - RELAY FOR LIFE Recap 2007
Sigma Delta attended the recent Relay for Life function in the Lewis University rec center.
The event raises awareness of the methods of how to better treat cancer and provides information on cancer prevention.
The Relay program also offers education and advice to those surviving with the illness, and comforts those that
have lost friends and families.
Sigma Delta's members are no strangers to the horrors of cancer and we used the night to raise money for continued research
by the American Cancer Society. Donations were made in the name of Sigma Delta members Phil "Dr. Jones" Jones (Beta Pi honorary) and
Terry Ann "Yoshi" Prohl (Beta Epsilon honorary) as well as family members of the Oprzedeks (Alpha Omega, Beta Zeta & Beta
Mu)
Please read more at the "Relay" website above or contact us to find out how you can sponsor Sigma Delta at next year's
event.

From: Falese, Joseph T. Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2007 9:03 AM
Friends, I received
word late yesterday that our good friend Father John Fogarty passed away on March 9th down in Florida and I thought
you would like to know. The Mass of the Christian Burial will take place in Danvers , Mass. On Saturday March 24th.
However, there will be a Memorial Service on Thursday March 29th at 700 pm at the National Shrine of St. Therese in
Darien , IL . The address is 8501 Bailey Road in Darien . I know that we want to let as many people know as possible,
so I think we all need to spread the word to our contacts as soon as possible. I am sure those in the area may want
to attend. I hope all is well with you and I look forward to seeing good friends at the service for our good friend “Fogs”.

3/17/2007 - A St. Patrick Style Alumni Day
The BETA SIGMA class was greeted by
"Beta Class" alum Charlie "Puppy" Painter this weekend as Sigma Delta began its kickoff run to the 35th.
The day went well enough as pledges greeted both recent and yesteryear's SD alums.
Unfortunately due to school policy, no Guiness was served in the Big Red Room.
It was a scary revelation when Charlie arrived and looked at recent Adjunct Faculty member Andrew Nelsen of the Beta
Zeta class from 2001.
"I didn't know your Mom, did I?" asked a confused Mr. Painter.
Hmmm. This picture does show an awful resemblence. Sigma Delta will not comment any further on this issue.
THANKS TO ALL OUR ALUM WHO SHOWED!
SEE YOU NEXT SEMESTER!

as she went all "Britney Spears" to support the cancer foundation, St. Baldrick's. It is an organization that supports young
kids fighting the illness.
Kayce was kind enough to show us her new look.

3/15/2007 - Sigma Delta
- Tugs Champs / Greek Week Spring 2007
Sigma Delta's "Beta Sigma" Class took the field Thursday night to compete in the bi-annual Tugs event involving a "tug-of-war"
match between rival fraternities, soroities and fratorities.
Due to a condensed IFC roster this semester, the only match consisted of the women of Sigma Delta VS Theta Kappa Pi Soroity.
The ladies of the Beta Sigma class won a convincing battle vs. the Th-K-Pi pledges in 2 rounds that lasted just under
5 minutes.
Tugsmasters Staci "Gizmo" N. (Beta Mu) and Nick "Magoo" Prohl (Alpha Omega) could not have been more proud of their pledges.
Next up was Sigma Delta's men vs. Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. Under circumstances they could not control, the Phi Kapps
had to forfeit the match and Sigma Delta's men won in a no-contest. Not to let the fans of Greek Week down however, the men
of the Beta Sigma pledge class put on an exhibition match vs the Active men of Sigma Delta. After a hard fought ten minute
struggle, the male pledges pulled out a victory as well.
Congratulations on the Tugs Victory Beta Sigma.
All your training and dedication has paid off!
Other Greek Week Notes:
Sigma Delta placed 3rd Overall.
- 3rd Place in Kaereoke (With a perfect score in the pledge round)
- Tied for 1st in DDR (Dance Competition)

band Rascall Flatts.
You may remember them from their cover song of "Life is a Highway" from the recent Disney movie CARS.
Kate will be on tour with them as cheif catering manager for a 90+ show run throughout summer.
Next up for Kate is a tour with "the Killers" come fall. Congratulations Kate.
